Description:

Drawing from Malikian’s photographic collection, this volume offers rich material on a preeminent Armenian photographer family, the Krikorians. It brings together for the first time photographs from Garabed Krikorian (1847-1920), who learned photography from Armenian Patriarch Yessayi Garabedian at the Armenian Convent in Jerusalem and established the first photographic studio in the Holy City. Krikorian’s son Johannes took up photography and practiced it with his wife Najla, the niece of Khalil Raad, the first female photographer in Palestine and the Middle East.
